The Field Centre
Located in Lot 6 of Sabah’s Lower Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary, the Danau Girang Field Centre (DGFC) has been a leading hub for tropical biology since 2007.
DGFC provides fully equipped field station facilities for university field courses, conservation volunteers, interns, and professional researchers. Our on-site accommodation includes a spacious hostel sleeping up to 31 guests (ideal for academic groups) and a dedicated studio building accommodating up to 16 long-term researchers and interns seeking immersive field experience in Borneo

Field Courses
To date, Danau Girang Field Centre (DGFC) has welcomed over 20 prestigious global academic institutions, many of whom return annually for our world-class tropical biology programs.
We offer fully customizable 7-to-14-day field courses designed to seamlessly integrate with your home institution’s curriculum, allowing students to conduct vital project work that contributes directly to their degree programs.

Internship & Volunteer Programme
Are you looking to gain hands-on field experience in tropical ecology? Danau Girang Field Centre (DGFC) offers immersive, long-term wildlife research internships and volunteer positions in the heart of Sabah’s rainforest.
To maximise the impact of your experience, volunteers and interns typically commit to a stay of two months or longer.
Professional Placements
